Munch of Mumbles was opened in 2012 by Ben and Jacqui Griffiths. They quickly established a successful Bistro, providing quality food in an unassuming but elegant restaurant. The style of food is modern British, incorporating classic European cooking skills to produce exciting food combinations for a fine dining experience.
Munch of Mumbles is located in the pretty seaside village of Mumbles on the Gower Peninsula. The village boasts an array of bespoke boutiques, shops, a castle and victorian pier, many traditional pubs, cafes and wine bars making it a whole day experience if you chose to dine at Munch for lunch or dinner.
Head Chef Gareth Richards
In December 2015, Ben and Jacqui passed the reins over to Gareth and Nerys Richards. Gareth an accomplished and time served chef didn’t hesitate when he was offered the opportunity to buy Munch. Like Ben before him, Gareth has always wanted to run his own restaurant. He has a passion for food and firmly believes in using quality ingredients. He uses every effort to souce local produce to create and serve delicious food in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.
Gareth and Nerys continue to develop the success that Ben and Jacqui started. They are hugely proud and grateful to the team who work with them and thankful to their loyal customers who return to enjoy new tempting dishes.
Award winning menu
In April 2016, Gareth and Nerys were thrilled to win the Welsh Food Awards for Best Restaurant South West Region. This is testimony to the skill of the chefs, combined with the support of the front of house staff.
This was followed up in November with a further accolade from The Welsh Hospitality Awards.
Gareth collected the award as Winner of the Best Restaurant Team in Wales. This is a credit to Gareth and Nerys having taken forward the vision of Munch which they plan to develop and continue their present success for many years to come.
